Working with Organisations

Most research now done within and for organisations demonstrates that improving performance is a by-product of good employee engagement (Gallop 12). Here at Severn Talking Therapy we have over 15 years experience of working with organisations and their employees to provide better contact, improved relations and engagement with employees, managers and human resource departments.

We work by offering bespoke workshops on:

  • Stress management and resilience
  • Improving engagement
  • The importance of good communication
  • Working with mental health issues in organisational settings
  • Working with bereavement
  • Re organisation and change
  • How to use and get the best out of reflective practice in your organisation/department

We have experience of working with organisations and HR departments to:

  • Use the latest research in a practical and pragmatic form to help your organisation
  • Improve the appraisal system and get better feedback from employees
  • Develop counselling, coaching and mentoring services to support and improve employee engagement

We provide:

Counselling, supervision, mentoring and coaching that is sensitive to the organisational context

Project Management

We are able to facilitate, co-ordinate or evaluate projects for you or your organisation.

You may require us to supply resources such as time, energy, specific knowlegdge or skills, relevant to well being or recovering from mental illness, as individuals or as a group of affiliates.

This may enable you to prepare to introduce or make change, evaluate that process or sustain it.

We are able to engage with you to establish what you are aiming to achieve and / or how that might occur and/or make that new initiative a reality.

For more information about us as individuals see 'The Team'. If you would like to dicuss further please contact us by telephone or e mail.

In the helping professions, supervision has been around for a long time. For some professions, such as counselling and psychotherapy, it is mandatory. Seen as separate from management supervision, it is a reflective space in which the skills of one professional are used in service of another to reflect on their practice, challenge, support and maintain ethical standards. Trust and being able to verbalise struggles, strengths and vulnerabilities are highly revered!

Gradually other professions have seen the value of such a space and are increasingly providing supervision for their staff within the public and private sectors.

We have many years between us of providing supervision in organisations from the public sector, universities, individual and group.

Information about Supervision Conference UK can be found on the website from the homepage.

Coaching in Organisations

Whatever is happening in one part of the organisation will impact on other areas.

Whatever is happening in one aspect of our own lives can impact on our relations and contact at work.

As much as we sometimes try to separate these off or compartmentalise what we do and call it ‘work’ or ‘home’ life, it is natural that one area will influence another particularly if it has a marked effect on us.

Using a systems approach to coaching we can help support, guide, and facilitate individuals and organisations to optimise their functioning.

Counselling in Organisational settings

Counselling largely began outside of the workplace to help people bring balance and perspective to their lives. It was found to be useful alongside medical, educational and social approaches often augmenting each other. Over the last 20 years as employers began to take their responsibilities for the psychological wellbeing of the employee more seriously and saw the value of counselling in supporting the best in the employee, then workplace counselling began to grow.

Over the years we have learnt from each other – the counselling community and the organisations - until counselling, in the context of the organisational setting, has become a speciality. What we know as the ‘three cornered contract’ – the relationship and needs of the organisation, balanced with the needs and the relationship with the client, augmented by the skills and understanding of the counsellor.

Here at Severn Talking Therapy we have over 30 years of experience of working with, in and for various organisations. We can provide counselling for your employees, within or alongside your organisation which is bespoke.
